An outdoor TV installation during the warmer months in Westchester NY can be a great way to enjoy your favorite shows and movies while spending time outdoors. It actually creates another entertainment space for everyone in your family without any remodeling or construction. There are a few things to keep in mind when planning your outdoor viewing area, most of all choosing the right location and ensuring that your TV is weather resistant. With careful planning, you can enjoy many hours of entertainment outdoors with family and friends. But how do you know which one will work best for your needs? We know it can be quite overwhelming and that's why we created this guide on how to choose an amazing outdoor television that's sure to fit any budget and impress the most discerning movie watchers. We also offer Outdoor Speakers and landscape lighting to complete your outdoor entertainment goals.

Just about everyone asks this question and that is why we put it here at the top, and the answer is No, you can not use an indoor tv outside. Here are some reasons why your standard indoor TV will render itself unusable in a pretty short period of time if installed outside.

1. MOISTURE: Obviously the slightest moisture will destroy any electronics that are not weatherproof or designed completely for outdoor use. From the electrical outlet to the TV itself, everything must be UL rated for outdoor use. Not only will the TV have a very short life but there are also shock hazards which can lead to injury or even death if you choose this route. Indoor models should operate between 35 to 50 percent humidity while some outdoor models can handle 90% humidity (interior), and have an IP56 rating. IP56 means it is protected from harmful dust and no harmful effects of strong water jets from all directions

2. SUN GLARE: As we will explain below, the actual display or screen is different, not only is it water proof but depending on the model it is designed to absorb a certain amount of sunlight and the display is much brighter so it always looks good. Many manufactures call them full shade, partial sun or full sun models. The model you need is dictated by where you want to mount your television.

3. DURABILITY: These screens and enclosures can take a little more abuse, like something striking the screen from wind or of course any outdoor activities. The screens are not indestructible but they are certainly more durable than their indoor counterparts. They are also designed with much secure mounting solution which prevents theft as well.

4. TEMPERATURE: Depending on where you live, and how hot or cold it gets outside will also wreak havoc on any electrical components. These TV's are designed to be out in the weather all year in most environments. Some are engineered to operate in temperature ranges of -24 to 122 degrees Fahrenheit, unlike their indoor cousins ranging around 60 to 90 degrees.

When deciding on which TV to purchase the first question is where will it be mounted. The more sunlight the TV is placed in the brighter the screen and unfortunately the larger the investment. Below you can determine which television will give you the best experience depending on where it will be viewed.

For those who want to enjoy a great outdoor TV experience and have an enclosed space or at least an overhead roof, look no further than a full shade TV model. A fully shaded area will ensure that you don’t have direct sunlight shining directly onto your television screen and thankfully these are a lot more affordable.

An ideal solution for those who have a viewing space with limited sunlight should install a "Partial Sun TV". These televisions will adjust o the brightness automatically so it can maintain good image quality throughout the day without losing detail or being "washed out" when there's too much sunlight outside.

With a Full Sun TV it will work awesome in the most challenging sunlight situation. This may seem like an impossible situation at first glance--until you see for yourself how much technology has improved in recent years since manufacturers started creating these unbelievable sets.

One of the best ways to get a great outdoor TV experience is by investing in one with an established reputation for quality. We recommend three brands that each have their own unique selling point, so we can help you find something perfect no matter what your needs are!

National Smart Home of Westchester NY offers outdoor speakers as well as outdoor soundbar solutions to really bring your TV to life! Todays televisions, indoor or outdoor, are big but still extremely thin which limits the speaker size (and power) that are installed in any sets.
